Three More Videos

We are in the process of preparing three more videos to shoot the first weekend in May. I know it is less than 2 weeks away, which is really exciting! All three script ideas came at the same time. Carving out enough time to shoot all three was difficult, but we finally did it.

Once the shooting is actually done we will release one per month over the following 3 months. We will of course post them here on the videos page of our website (under the “Resources” tab in the menu).

Look for more updates as we get closer to the shooting dates (May 4-6) as we will have some behind the scenes photos and video clips as well!

How It All Started

As I (Mario) sat eating my Chic-fil-a sandwich little did I know what was soon to be coming next in my conversation with Daniel. “So, I’ve had this idea.” Whenever Daniel looks at me and says he has an idea, I usually brace for impact. It’s not that Daniel’s ideas are bad or crazy, they just usually involve some type of significant time and energy commitment.

As fate would have it, this idea was to be no different from the rest. “I want to shoot videos that have a meaning. I want them to be artistically great, but their content to be deep as well. That’s where I thought you would come in.” By merging Daniel’s expertise of media and my background in theology, Daniel saw a vision of what could be, a series of videos emphasizing the applicability and relatability of the gospel to everyday life.

Our vision reaches beyond what we are even doing right now. Awesome videos are just the tip of the proverbial iceberg. Eventually we would like to develop teaching curriculum for churches to use in accompaniment with the videos. Hopefully, that will not be in the too distant future.

We are still growing and changing to better accomplished our mission and goal. But it is exciting to see about how far we have come in so short a period of time. Next time, I may just tell Daniel I’m all booked up for lunch.

Our Next Video: Brainstorming Ideas

This week we have been brainstorming ideas for our next video. Ideally, we would like to produce 1 video per month. I say “ideally” because very few of us actually accomplish our ideal plans, but we are committed to at least trying. Many people think that the hard part is the shooting and the editing of the video. That is actually the “easy” part. It is easy in comparison to coming up with the idea, theme, and location for the video. I have been thinking for days with no luck, but I know the idea will come, as it usually does, in a moment of completely unrelated thinking. Perhaps while we are in the middle of a telephone call, or in our car at a red light, or eating dinner with friends. Either way, the good ideas have a tendency of coming to us when we are not trying to think of them.

So, do you have any ideas? Are there any topics, questions, or suggestions you have that you would like to see us make into a video? If so, use the comment section of this post to leave us your ideas! Who knows? We may use your suggestion to make the next Identity Shift video.

Leisurely Moments

Another often asked question we get is, what do we like to do in our spare time? The answer that immediately comes to mind is, what spare time? However, during those moments that life affords us to take a hiatus for leisurely recreation, the most common activity would be anything.

Really it depends on who you ask, Daniel enjoys spending time with his 3 sons outdoors on the backyard jungle-gym.

Mario prefers a quiet room and a good book to ease the tension of the day. But more recently he has been seen at the local ice rink playing goalie for his adult hockey league.

Elisha enjoys comedic TV shows and, oddly enough, photography in his “spare time.”

Also, they all may or may not have an “Arrested Development” addiction.

In short, we are all just normal people who enjoy normal things.

Our First Video is Now Online

I have to say this video turned out much better than I could have every imagined.  The pre-production work that went into this video was just the beginning of the journey. The post production work was intense. We all had our fair share of working into the wee hours of the morning. Both the production of the video and its synonymous release with the website were Herculean tasks completed in amazing time.

It is our hope that this hard work will not be in vain and that you will enjoy watching it as much as we have enjoyed making it. It is our prayer that there will be many more videos like these to come. And we look forward to all of you being a part of it!
